Manfred Ohrenstein, founding partner of Ohrenstein & Brown, leads the firm's Government Affairs practice. Mr. Ohrenstein serves as a strategic consultant and government affairs representative for Fortune 500 companies in New York City, New York State and Washington, D.C. in matters relating to insurance, banking, securities, health, telecom, and government contracting. He is currently involved in real estate development projects before the New York City Council, the NYC Department of Planning, the NYC Economic Development Corporation and the Empire State Economic Development Corporation and local planning boards.
Mr. Ohrenstein is a prominent political and civic leader in the city and state of New York and is a 35-year veteran of New York State government. He was a member of the New York State Senate until 1995 and also served as Democratic Minority Leader. He chaired the New York Delegation to the Democratic National Convention, is currently Vice-Chairman of the New York Holocaust Museum, a member of the Advisory Board of the Baruch School of Public Affairs of the City University of New York, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Federation of New York.
Mr. Ohrenstein is a much sought after speaker both nationally and internationally, having been invited to speak on insurance, regulatory and financial matters in Germany and China for business groups and provincial government organizations.
Mr. Ohrenstein received his bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Brooklyn College and his law degree from Columbia University where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Press
